Music Makes Meetings and Incentives More Fun and More Memorable

From the more than 2,500 people who just returned from Professional Convention Management Association’s annual conference in mid-January, many of their reviews of the event had a very interesting common element. They said that there seemed to be more energy at this conference than at other conferences they had attended in the past. One big reason: Attendees were exposed to music for much of their time there–not only inside the conference but even away from it—because they were meeting in Nashville, a.k.a Music City.

To express how I feel about this type of attendee feedback, I’ll use an old cliché: It is music to my ears. Such positive reviews about how music affects people’s perceptions of an event plays straight into how AIC Hotel Group operates its hotels and resorts. Specifically, our all-inclusive Hard Rock Hotels on the eastern and western coasts of Mexico and in the Dominican Republic are centered around a musical experience for guests. The goal: To relax, refresh and energize these folks so that they have the most enjoyable and memorable stay possible.

For meeting and incentive groups, the use of music can be so beneficial for business purposes. Besides being experts in matching the right types of music to the theme of each business session, teambuilding activity, reception and meal function, our resorts also offer attendees an opportunity to make music together as a form of bonding. No musical training is necessary for any individual to make a tangible contribution to a musical composition created by the group–our staffs are well versed in matching each person’s strength to a task that’s essential to the making of good music by a team. Attendees with no musical experience are always amazed that they can make a real contribution to a song or music video that ends up being of surprisingly good quality. This also makes for a permanent memory among team members.

So I’m very happy that PCMA in Nashville went over so well thanks to the city’s deep musical culture and offerings. It makes our task here at AIC Hotel Group that much easier when we speak to event planners about how the power of music can create standout business programs—and about how we are the premier properties in the entire Caribbean for making events more memorable through music.
