Properties with Robust Technology Appeal to Both Meetings and Incentive ProgramsJuly 17, 2017
In early July, the business travel division of Expedia, called Egencia, released a survey of frequent business travelers that shows the aspects where they desire the most convenience while on the road.
To start, consider this: 70 percent of respondents said they find business trips more enjoyable than everyday work life. For business-event planners, this is revealing in that road warriors actually look forward to not just incentive programs but even educational meetings, despite not being able to devote much time to their clients and drive revenue during an event. Next up is the finding that two factors—non-stop flights and easy access to Wi-Fi—are what a majority of respondents say is most critical to their satisfaction during business travel.
When we put together business travelers’ willingness to attend meetings with their need for easy access to Wi-Fi connectivity, here’s the conclusion that planners and hoteliers alike should come to: Meetings and incentives are most satisfying to attendees when these folks are able to use their personal technology easily to stay on top of developments in their work and personal lives.
At our Eden Roc and Nobu Hotels in Miami, plus our Hard Rock all-inclusive properties in the Dominican Republic and on the Caribbean and Pacific coasts of Mexico, we’ve worked hard in the past two years to stand apart from other hotels and resorts in the area of group-related technology. We’ve upgraded physical spaces and technology in the meeting and reception areas at Eden Roc and at Hard Rock Hotel Riviera Maya, and we’ve added brand-new spaces and technology at Nobu and at Hard Rock Hotel Vallarta. As a result, groups have access to the most robust technology for business presentations plus special events (especially ones with musical performances), as well as plenty of Wi-Fi bandwidth for attendees to stay on top of their business and family matters.
In some cases, meeting and incentive planners are not very confident about leaving the U.S. with their events, particularly because of technology concerns. But with the six properties in the All-Inclusive Collection, we make sure that is never the case.
