Golf Can Entertain Attendees – and Build Their Confidence

Well, the world of pro golf has gotten a lot more exciting lately. Tiger Woods has regained his health and is consistently finishing high on the leaderboard each week. Opposing him are young guns such as
Jordan Speith, Dustin Johnson and Jason Day; their talent and fierce competitive natures make for
entertaining Sunday afternoons for those who follow pro golf.

But even among people who don’t follow the pros, playing golf can be a very entertaining
activity—especially during social times at meetings and incentive programs. Rather than spending a few
hours playing the golf course, though, many groups will engage in brief, easy contests and activities
during a cocktail reception set at the putting green and driving range—these practice areas are always
just steps from the clubhouse. In fact, our Hard Rock All Inclusive Resorts on the Caribbean and Pacific
coasts of Mexico and in the Dominican Republic all have access to beautiful golf facilities, and coordinate
such receptions all the time.

Meeting and incentive program stakeholders—planners and executives alike—should understand how
beneficial golf is for team camaraderie and even for individual self-confidence among attendees.
Consider this: The National Golf Foundation finds that women represent 34 percent of beginner golfers
but just 24 percent of regular players. This means that women are dropping out of golf at a high rate,
often because of lack of self-confidence. But among women who stick with golf, surveys show that their
self-confidence grows in ways that actually help them in their business performance as well.

Meeting and incentive planners can use the professional teaching staff at our golf courses to get
beginners—and particularly women—interested in golf and confident enough to stick with it. We can
create mini-clinics during free time or during a cocktail reception, and then run the fun contests and
team activities that all attendees take part in. Besides getting attendees to build stronger bonds through
an enjoyable activity, our golf staff can also send many attendees home with a boost in confidence and
the desire to stick with a game that is so beneficial for business purposes.

So the next time you speak to us about holding a program at one of the properties in the All Inclusive
Hotel Group, ask us how we can use golf to entertain your attendees and also improve their confidence
and business performance.
