Here Comes IMEX America in Las Vegas – See You There?

I must admit that I get pretty excited in the weeks leading up to the IMEX America conference and trade show held each October at Sands Expo and Convention Center in Las Vegas. The reason for my enthusiasm is that I get to converse with literally hundreds of meeting, convention and incentive-program buyers about what is changing with their events, and what is most important to them as they choose a property and coordinate the various elements of their programs. For me, these in-person encounters are incredibly informative and motivating.
The IMEX America event is also an opportunity for me and our sales team at AIC Hotel Group to show off the many attractive elements of our properties, which are set on the Atlantic and Pacific coasts of Mexico in addition to Dominican Republic and Miami Beach.
For instance, when we hear planners talk about their need for unique gathering spaces combined with the latest technology, we’re happy to show them what we have at each property and how it has been used by other groups.
When we hear that planners want authentic local interactions and experiences that fascinate attendees and make them remember an event for years to come, we are excited to talk about our connections to the culinary, cultural and natural elements in each of our destinations and how we leverage them for groups.
And when we hear that planners want a proactive partner from contact negotiations to on-site management to post-event bill reconciliation, we are ready to demonstrate how our team does these things for each group client.
Over the three days that IMEX America takes place—October 10 through 12—I make sure to wear my most comfortable dress shoes and to keep a pack of throat lozenges in my suit pocket. Basically, I make myself ready to exchange useful information and creative ideas with every planner who comes to our exhibit booths, and with those planners I meet during educational sessions and receptions.
