Winter Fun Includes Great Golf Experiences—Even for Nongolfers

In North America, the golf season has just about come to an end. Even the professional golf tours are wrapping up their seasons: The senior professional tour held its championship event in Phoenix in early November, while the PGA Tour held one of its final events of 2017 last week in Riviera Maya, Mexico.

In fact, that event was held just a few miles from the Hard Rock Hotel Riviera Maya’s highly regarded course, built by famed architect Robert von Hagge in the scenic Quintana Roo area. Our course is quiet, heavily wooded and teeming with exotic birds, yet close enough to central Cancun to allow guests of Hard Rock Hotel Cancun to enjoy a day of golf too.

Part of the reason that golf is pretty perfect in the winter months on the courses at Hard Rock Hotel Riviera Maya, at Hard Rock Hotel Vallarta on Mexico’s Pacific coast, and at Hard Rock Hotel Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic is because of recent advances in golf-course maintenance. In particular, a new strand of grass called seashore paspalum is so salt-water tolerant that the courses can be nourished with a mix of 90 percent salt water and 10 percent fresh water. This has allowed our courses to be watered more and stay lush yet easy to maintain each day, making for a better player experience. What’s more, guests at our Riviera Maya and Punta Cana properties get unlimited golf as part of the all-inclusive package—an amazing value.

Another part of making the golf experience enjoyable is how we incorporate the element of music into our golf facilities. At the Hard Rock Hotel Riviera Maya’s golf clubhouse, memorabilia from world-famous musicians who love golf is set all around the building, which means that even a cocktail reception for a meeting or incentive group (where there might be many non-golfers) will be incredibly interesting and memorable for everyone. After all, who wouldn’t want their photo taken while sitting in Eddie Van Halen’s personal golf cart that’s on display at our Riviera Maya course? A business group can also use the practice putting green for mini-golf contests that everyone would enjoy.

When planners are looking at their options for warm-weather meetings and incentives in the winter season, they should keep in mind the unique dimension that Hard Rock’s golf experiences can provide.
